Getting Started
What is SHOWTIME! Wrestling?

SHOWTIME! is a collaborative wrestling e-fed built around a television-style presentation. Characters, matches, episodes, and stories develop over time as part of an ongoing production rather than existing as isolated pieces.

How do I join?

Fill out the application on the website. Management will review it and contact you using the email address you provide.

How do I create a character?

Start with a person rather than a completed legend. You do not need every detail figured out. The important thing is that there is potential to explore and somewhere for the character to go. The Character Guide explains the approach in more detail.

What kind of characters are you looking for?

There is no single correct type. We are looking for something interesting with potential. The character does not have to be likeable, perfect, or already fully developed.

Can I have more than one character?

Yes, as long as you can realistically manage them. There is no arbitrary limit, but every additional character is an additional responsibility.

Participation
How active do I have to be?

As active as you want to be. You can do the basic level of participation by submitting a character and delivering promos before deadlines, or you can get involved with creative discussion, match writing, or other production work. The main expectation is that you follow through on whatever level of participation you choose.

How do promos work?

The promo itself has a 500-word hard limit. You can use up to 250 additional words for optional setup and formatting, but that allowance is not extra promo space. The Promo Guide explains the format and philosophy in detail.

Where do I submit my promo?

As a post inside your designated match location in the appropriate show's forum.

When are promos due?

Each production cycle will provide the relevant deadline. Your responsibility is to know what you are committed to and deliver your part on time.

What happens if I miss a deadline?

If there is no communication, the first missed deadline results in a private warning, the second in a public warning, and the third in a suspension. Continued missed commitments can eventually lead to removal. The important thing is communication. Real life happens; just let us know when something gets in the way.

Can I help with creative or match writing?

Yes. Members can contribute ideas, creative discussion, and match writing. None of that is required for ordinary participation, but there is room for people who want to be more involved.

How does a typical SHOWTIME! production cycle work?

The exact details can vary depending on what's happening in the Network, but the basic process is pretty straightforward.

Matches and plans are announced. Once a show begins taking shape, you'll know where your character is needed and what you're involved in.

You prepare your material. If you're scheduled to promo, you'll submit your promo in the appropriate match location before the deadline.

The deadline passes and production begins. Management and the production team use the material submitted to put the episode together. Promos, character developments, ongoing stories, and other contributions can all influence the final product.

The episode airs. The finished show is released through the official SHOWTIME! platforms and becomes part of the ongoing record.

Then we move forward. The results of one episode can affect what happens next. New matches are made, stories develop, characters react, and the next production cycle begins.

You don't need to understand every moving part behind the scenes. Your main responsibility is to know what you're committed to for the current cycle and deliver your part on time.

If you're ever unsure what you're supposed to be doing, ask.

Characters & Creative
How much control do I have over my character?

You control the character you submit and the promos you personally write. Once the character becomes part of SHOWTIME!, they also exist in a larger collaborative television world. Performance, relationships, success, failure, booking, and storylines can affect where they go.

Management and Creative handle official booking and story development, but your character's voice and your contributions remain important.

Can my character change?

Absolutely. Characters can and should evolve through storylines, relationships, success, failure, and the need to prevent them from becoming stagnant.

Can I retire my character?

Yes. Let staff know so the departure can be handled appropriately.

Can I suggest a storyline or creative idea?

Yes. Suggestions are welcome. The Creative team develops the official storylines, though, so not every suggestion will necessarily be used.

Who decides matches and storylines?

Management handles official booking and has final authority. The Creative team develops official storylines, while member input and perspectives are welcome.

Can I use someone else's character in my promo?

Not directly without their involvement or approval. You can address, insult, challenge, threaten, allude to, or respond to another character, but you cannot write their dialogue, thoughts, actions, or reactions for them.

Real Life & Communication
What if I need time away?

Just let staff know. You do not need to give us your life story or apologize for having a life. A heads-up helps everyone plan.

What if I want to leave?

Communicate with staff. There does not need to be any hard feelings, and we will be happy to work with you on an appropriate exit.

What if I disappear?

If you stop communicating, the Network may eventually have to move forward without your character, including writing them off television.

Who do I contact if I have a problem?

If you are already part of the community, reach out to Management or a member of staff through the appropriate member channels. If you are a prospective applicant, the website application is your way in; Management will contact you using the email address you provide.

Rules & Boundaries
What kind of OOC behavior is expected?

Treat the people behind the characters with respect. In-character conflict is part of wrestling. Personal attacks, harassment, bullying, discrimination, or deliberately making another member uncomfortable are not acceptable.

What content is allowed?

Content boundaries are established during the application process and need to be respected. If you are not sure whether something crosses a line, ask before you do it.

What if I disagree with a staff decision?

You can respectfully offer another perspective or explain why you think a decision should be reconsidered. Staff will listen, but Management has the final say when a decision needs to be made.

Using the Platforms
What's the difference between the website, forum, and Discord?

Website: the front door, guides, reference material, setting information, and application.

Forum: the official record for programming, characters, episodes, Premiere Events, results, and permanent SHOWTIME! material.

Discord: the active members-only backstage/community/resource space for conversation, collaboration, and day-to-day participation.

Where do I find official information?

The website is the primary source for official guides and reference material. The forum is the official record for programming and characters. Discord can discuss or link to information, but it should not be the only source for something important.

What is considered canon?

Officially presented SHOWTIME! programming and the permanent forum record are generally canon. Discord is primarily a community and backstage space, so casual in-character posts or creative discussions there are not automatically official continuity unless they are incorporated into official production.

If you still have a question, that's okay. Nobody is expected to memorize the entire website before joining. If something is unclear, ask through the appropriate channel once you're part of the community. If it's something other people are likely to ask too, we'll add it here.
